A Historical Christmas Present - Lisa Kleypas, Lynsay Sands, Leigh Greenwood I just read the short story by Lisa Kleypas called "I Will." It was a lovely story about the brother of Logan Scott from Because You're Mine. I really liked the heroine in that book so it was fun getting a glimpse of what her life was like after the book ended. The heroine in this one was considered a bluestocking and a perfect match for the hero (once again Ms. Kleypas takes two different characters and fits them perfectly together). There were not a lot of redeeming qualities in the hero who started out as a rake...The kind that makes me think of my all time favorite one...Lord St. Vincent. This was a perfect short story to read just in time for Christmas!
Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor - Lisa Kleypas Well, I am not sure where to begin with writing about this book. I do know I read it way too fast and wanted more of Mark and Maggie's story by the time it was over. Ms. Kleypas is always good to her readers so I am very confident I will be reading about them again in future books.

Honestly, I usually do not choose stories that feature children prominently in them. I have found that authors sometimes do not have the children act (or talk) age appropriately and it just turns me off (I know I am probably in the minority with that opinion, but it is just the way I sometimes feel). Of course, I should have known Ms. Kleypas would work her literary magic and make Holly instantly endearing. I loved that she was not loud or demanding, but sweet and sensitive.

The family dynamics with the Nolan brothers left me with more questions than answers, but I know I will understand more as future books are released. I instantly liked Mark and how he immediately took his responsibility to Holly seriously. It was obvious that Holly bonded with her Uncle Mark and Uncle Sam and I loved seeing that develop between them. The third brother, Alex, is still a mystery and I am actually looking forward to reading his story next. Although, I think it will be Sam's book that will be released, but I have to check to make sure.

By the time I had finished reading the second chapter, I had instantly loved Maggie. She had already been through a lot by the time she was twenty-eight years old, but still remained a hopeful person. I cannot think of anyone that would have been better suited to help guide Holly as she gets older. She will support Mark and provide the extra hugs and kisses that her Mom would have given her. Ms. Kleypas once again perfectly matched two very different characters. Where does she think of all of these ideas?

I have read reviews from some readers who were disappointed that this story was not as steamy as Ms. Kleypas' other books, but it did not bother me. I also know she has said in interviews that she is not changing the way she is writing and that her future books will be a little steamier. I do not know if this book would have worked as well if she had written it any other way and I am glad she chose this way. "Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor" was the perfect book to read on a cold and dreary day and I am so sad I am finished. My only regrets are I wish it would have been longer and I did have to wait so long for the next book. Oh...and I want to visit the San Juan Islands now!!!
Silk Is For Seduction - Loretta Chase 4.5 stars...This was a fun beginning to a new series and I can't wait to find out which sister will be the next one to get a book (My guess is it will be Sophie and Lord Longdon, but I do not know)!!!
After the Night - Linda Howard This book is beyond words...I don't think I could do it justice by writing a review right now. I would strongly recommend this book to all of my goodreads friends who love romance with a little suspense thrown in. I will come back to this book at a later time when I think I can write a coherent review!
Mr. Perfect - Linda Howard I am on a roll! This was another fantastic Linda Howard book that had just the right amount of suspense and romance. Where have I been this entire time and not know about these books???
Open Season - Linda Howard I really loved this book and it was so different from the other Linda Howard book I read several months ago. "MacKenzie's Mountain" was very good, but this was fun! Daisy was such an adorable character and Jack was the perfect boyfriend for her (even when she did not know it). Now, I cannot wait to read Linda Howard's other books! The hard part will be finding my next book to top this one. Thank-you, MelissaB for talking about this book a couple of weeks ago because I probably would not have read it had it not been for your comments!
Loyalty In Death - Nora Roberts (Writing as J. D. Robb) This is another fantastic installment in the "In Death" series. Roarke and Eve keep are terrific (once again) and I especially loved this one because we got to see more of Peabody's character. These books just keep getting better and I am not even half way done with the series...Woo hoo!!!
It Had to Be You - Susan Elizabeth Phillips This was another great romance from Susan Elizabeth Phillips! I had already read Heaven, Texas and did not know it was part of a series. This book actually is the first one in the "Chicago Stars" stories and it was fun. I really liked Phoebe, but Dan took me longer to like. There were certain parts of his character that I did not enjoy, but he eventually redeemed himself in only the way SEP can do. There was also a "stalker" sub-plot that I did not really think was necessary, but it all turned out alright. I am anxious to continue with the series because I want to read about Phoebe's younger half-sister Molly in This Heart of Mine. I have high expectations for Molly's book!
The True Love Wedding Dress - Casey Claybourne, Barbara Metzger, Connie Brockway, Catherine Anderson I read "Beautiful Gifts" by Catherine Anderson and it was lovely short story in the Coulters Historical series.
Untamed - Pamela Clare I really wish I could have given this book more than five stars. It was another beautiful romance written by Pamela Clare and now I can't wait to read Connor's story!
Wicked Delights of a Bridal Bed - Tracy Anne Warren I am going to come back and write more about this book when I have a little more time. I will just say right now that I loved it and found myself smiling more than once as I was reading it. Adam is the kind of hero that is so fun to read about in books...he is protective, kind, loving, sensual, possessive, and all around the very ALPHA male. This book reminded me at times of Julia Quinn's novel When He Was Wicked and that is definitely meant as a compliment. Mallory was such a sweet heroine and I was so happy to see her get a HEA with Adam. This was a great addition to the Bryon series and I cannot wait to read the others. Woo-hoo!!!
Keegan's Lady - Catherine Anderson Swoon! This is the only word that comes to mind when thinking about this book and Ace Keegan. I have yet to read a Catherine Anderson book that has disappointed me. I can't wait to read the rest of this series and find out who the other brothers end up marrying.
Pleasure of a Dark Prince - Kresley Cole I loved Garreth and Loosha (Lucia) together...This is one of my favorite IAD books and I didn't want to see it end. I would definitely recommend reading this series in order or some of the events in this book could be confusing.
Angel's Peak - Robyn Carr My goodreads friends have written some really lovely reviews about this books and series so I will just write a few comments. Once again I devoured this book and cannot get enough of Virgin River. This story focused on another Riordan brother (Sean) and it was not a disappointment. I love Robyn Carr incorporates previous characters into her stories and it was so much fun to see Noah and Ellie get married. Of course, I always love to read the parts with Paige and Preacher too. Sigh!!! I have had a miserable cold the past two days and this book was just what I needed to feel better. I hope Robyn Carr has many more stories planned for this series because they just keep getting better and better. NOW, I cannot wait to read Aiden and Erin's story. I already love Aiden and he has not had a major storyline yet!!!
Three Nights with a Scoundrel - Tessa Dare I loved this book and it is my favorite Tessa Dare novel to date!!! If I could have given this book more than five stars, I would have. This made my list of favorite books I have read this year!!!
When a Texan Gambles - Jodi Thomas This was another addicting book in the "Wife Lottery" series by Jodi Thomas! I did not think the second book could follow the first one as it definitely became one of my favorite historical romance books. I was wrong! I enjoyed this book as much as the first book (and in some ways more). Sam was a lonely bounty hunter who paid for the release of Sarah from jail. She and two other women were thought to have murdered an evil mountain man. The entire town is not especially concerned with the supposed murder, but rather the women. There are not many women in this part of Texas and many men are looking for wives. Each woman in the series has her own (heartbreaking) story as to how she got there. I have not read the two other stories in the series, but I think Sarah's might be the saddest. She was left on a doorstep of a woman who did not want her and then was subsequently given away when she was six to an elderly woman who did not want her too. After the elderly woman died, Sarah married a widower who did not care for her either (he was only interested in having someone cook for him and do his laundry). I think the worst part about this is I know there were people that really did have that kind of life. Fortunately, Sam "wins" her in the lottery and treats her with respect. He is such an honorable man and the two of them are meant for each other. I could say so much more about why this book touched me so! I am not a person that gravitates towards western romances, but I would really encourage anyone that likes romances to look into this series. This was a big five star book for me and I cannot wait to read the next one!!!
