I loved this book so much and I should have known that Catherine Anderson would not disappoint me with this story. As I started it I kept thinking about the movie "Johnny Belinda" with Jane Wyman (I love old movies). Although, this book really is not like that story at all. Annie is such a complex character and it is not until page 80 or 90 that the reader understands what her disability (deafness) really is in the story. I think this story touched me so much because I know there were situations like Annie growing up during that time period. Alex was such a swoon-worthy hero and he really developed as the story unfolded too. I was not sure about him at first, but he proved himself to Annie (and me). I never thought I would like reading western historical romances and I have definitely changed my opinion with authors like Catherine Anderson. I would recommend it to anyone who is in the mood for beautiful romance.
